Foodie PenPals – Reveal Day

Hello, my friends and happy hump day!

Before we go to the Part II of the NYC adventures, I wanted to tell you about a fun program I’ve recently signed up for. It is called Foodie Pen Pals.

If you look on the left sidebar on my blog, you will see the program badge

That’s it, and it is exactly what it sounds like – every month people who sign up get matched randomly to send each other a box with food. It is not an exchange (i.e. you don’t send the box to the person who sends the box to you), which makes it even more fun because this way you get to “meet” two people! I thought it was a great way of socializing and trying new foods from different places.

So, this month I was matched with a lady who didn’t contact me within the time required by the program, so I contacted the program coordinator Lindsay asking for help. Within minutes (!!!) I had somebody else contacting me asking for my address and all the details to send me the box.

I was lucky to get Magdaline as my Foodie Pen Pal this month. She asked about my preferences, dietary restrictions, likes/dislikes and in 2-3 days I got my box!!! I was so excited to open it and discover all the goodies inside:

My most favorite item was Magdaline’s home made granola.

I have re-created it here with my variations to the original recipe, and it tastes great with non-fat Greek yogurt and fresh fruit.

Another item I received from Magdaline was Roasted Seaweed Snacks.

These were very thin sheets – like seaweed paper! Very interesting taste (reminded me of sushi) and packed with nutritious stuff!

I also got Nature Harvest’s Veggie Crunchers that I haven’t tried yet.

and Snapea Crispers that I am saving for the right salad 🙂

One of the rules of the program is that the box has to include a “written item” – a card, a recipe, a letter…I was so pleasantly surprised to receive a hand written letter from Magdaline as well as a printed recipe. It was very thoughtful and added a great personal touch to the whole experience.

Are you curious to try Foodie Penpals yet? 🙂 If yes, head over here, fill out a simple form and enjoy!

I would like to thank my foodie pen pal for the month of July – Magdaline for great gifts, and Lindsay at www.theleangreenbean.com who makes it all possible.

I highly recommend this program – it is so much fun!

Stay fit, friends!

  1. I always thought the Foodie Pen Pal was a great idea…I’d do it if I were more creative in that department 😉
