French Bistro Au Gratin – Date Night

French Bistro

Hey Guys! Happy Tuesday! It’s time to share some yummy experiences with you.

So this weekend (upon my hubby’s return from a week long business trip) we went out on a date to a new restaurant that just opened in town a couple of months ago – Au Gratin Bistro. It is a French bistro to be precise. Just like the dictionary suggests, it is a small place offering simple meals in moderate setting. I’ve never been to a French bistro before, so I was intrigued 🙂

Here’s what we saw when we walked in:

The first nice thing that happened to us at Au Gratin Bistro other than our waitress being very friendly and helpful was the fact that our water was served in a super nice bottle.

Felt almost like Paris 🙂

We started off with an appetizer. Now keep an open mind here, ok? What you see below was EXTREMELY delicious. Besides, anything with the word “crab” in it is like a love spell for all the members of my family 🙂 So we ordered three cheese macaroni with crab meat. Yes, for an appetizer 🙂 Don’t judge us 🙂

We didn’t finish it as we were saving room for the goodness to follow, and oh my, was I glad we did!

Our order came with an absolutely beautiful and delicious salad with arugula, roasted peppers, Kalamata olives, goat cheese and poppy seed dressing.

We both agreed the salad (both flavor combination and amount) was just absolutely perfect!

I ordered this perfection as an entrée:

This, my friends, was absolutely amazing. Slow braised beef short ribs with creamy risotto and asparagus. It literally just melted in my mouth!

The portions were pretty big so we brought some of the goodness back home with us to enjoy for lunch the next day.

If you’re ever in my neck of the woods, I would highly recommend visiting Au Gratin Bistro. We will definitely be coming back as we haven’t explored their lunch and dessert menu yet.

Visit their Facebook Page or their website for more information, hours and beautiful pictures of yummy food.

So that was my tasty experience this past weekend at the little French bistro, guys.

Now talk tasty to me 🙂

  3. Your date night looks like it was a great night – I laughed a bit about the three cheese macaroni with crab meat though – when you mentioned you went to a French bistro, the last thing I was expecting on the menu was mac and cheese haha 🙂 I was prepared for pictures of fried frogs legs!!
