Healthy Living Tips: Q&A about Infused Water

Hi guys!

Happy Hump Day!

I’ve been asked a lot about infused water lately. By no means am I an expert in this, but I thought I’d share some tips I discovered.

I make infused water every Sunday (sometimes twice a week) and I think it is a great healthy alternative to store bought juices, leave alone soda:

  • it does not contain any added sugar
  • it is cheaper
  • it is more delicious
  • it is better for you

So below are answers to some common questions I get about making infused water.

{1} What do I infuse the water with?

Basically any fruit or vegetable you have on hand. Feel free to add fresh/ground herbs.

Here are some of my most favorite flavors:

The possibilities are indeed endless – cucumber and mint, cucumber and rosemary, lemon-lime, etc. etc. Get creative!

{2} Where did you get that pitcher???

I get that question a lot 🙂 I got mine at TJ Maxx for $12. It is plastic and super awesome because it fits into the refrigerator door.

There’s a good variety on Amazon, too – some of the pitchers are featured in my Amazon widget in the right sidebar.  => Here’s the one similar to what I have:

They even have these fancy water bottles with infusers now:

{3} How do I infuse water?

Rinse and cut up the fruit/vegetable (or both) you want to infuse the water with. Mix in spices if you are adding any. Place it in the infusion container in the center of the pitcher.

Pour the water over the infusion container (I use bottled water).

Close the lid and refrigerate.

{4} How long do you keep the fruit/vegetable in the water?

I usually keep it in there for a couple days. Then you can remove the center part of the pitcher and keep the water in the fridge.

I bottle my infused water after 2-3 days for an easy grab-and-go.

And that will do it for the infused water making tips! Let me know if I left any questions unanswered and I will try to help.

Question: do you ever make infused water? What’s your favorite flavor?

Stay fit and infuse your water with goodness! 🙂

  1. I love infused water but hardly ever make it myself. I need to get one of those pitchers! I might buy one on amazon when I get my tax refund.

    • That pitcher was the best buy ever! Now that I have it I have no excuses NOT to make infused water 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by, Mary!
