A Week in Workouts and Exciting Fitness News

Hey-hey! Happy Hump Day, folks 🙂 It’s all downhill from here!

I’ve had a couple of really busy weeks here…I don’t know why, but I just can’t seem to catch up with everything ever since we came back from CA – so much going on!

So it’s been a while since I told you about my workouts. A lot’s been up on the fitness front, so let me tell you all about it – Wednesday to Wednesday 🙂

{WEDNESDAY} Walk it out!

So, the Saturday before last I taught my Indoor Cycling class at the Y, and after the class, walking through the lobby I spotted a couple of my riders sitting there having coffee. It was 9:00 AM on Saturday, I had no place I had to be, so I accepted the invitation to join them.

Little did I know that I entered a new phase in my life by doing that 🙂

Those guys both have Fitbits and there’s FIERCE competition on step count going on every day, every week. Those two have been working out together every morning for the past 5 years walking/running on a treadmill – lately – to get those steps in.

So I was challenged…

You know I love me a good challenge 🙂

So on Wednesday, at 6:00 AM I was not quite awake yet, but already on a treadmill between those two. I had fun!

Ever since then I’ve been making my goal of 6000 steps pretty much every day. Another couple weeks of keeping it up and I might increase my goal step count 🙂

{THURSDAY} TRX®

So…I’ve been hooked on this! But let me tell you this story from the beginning…

A couple weeks a go, our Physical Director at the Y sent out an e-mail to the fitness instructors saying that our TRX® instructor is leaving, and he’s looking for 3-5 volunteers to get certified and teach the class.

I’ve heard a lot about TRX®. All good stuff. I have never ever tried it myself before.

Ever.

Now tell me – why would I volunteer to get certified and teach it?

Exactly.

But…like Katniss Everdeen – I was unstoppable 🙂 So I volunteered. And the Games began…

First I thought – mmm…I’m getting certified in this, I better attend a class (great idea, genius!) – so I went. And it was AWESOME! Something just clicked for me with this workout – just like it did with Spinning® a while ago. In fact, there was a session by Dan McDonogh at the Indoor Cycling Summit about TRX® and its benefits for cyclists.

Next day, my husband had to help me get up and sit down. But that’s ok 🙂

So I’ve been taking the TRX® classes at my Y and I even ordered my TRX Suspension Trainer Basic Kit + Door Anchor – so after I get certified I could practice my routines at home.

{FRIDAY} Yoga Night

It was SO GOOD to do yoga after the TRX® on Thursday! SO. GOOD.

I can’t even begin to describe how good it was 🙂

{SATURDAY} Yoga and Some Nice Steps

On Friday night I started feeling my right calf. As if I pulled it. By 8 PM it hurt to walk.

So I decided to skip my usual Saturday Cycling and just go stretch it out in yoga. So yoga again it was.

{SUNDAY} Cycling

As you guys know, I now have my regular 45 minute cycling class on Sundays. YAY! I had 5 people in my class this weekend, which is pretty awesome considering that the weather was fabulous.

The class didn’t go so well this weekend, though…I was under the weather and basically taught it on auto-pilot. I don’t think I did a very good job…

I do hope my people come back next time I teach. 🙂

spinning

I had a very fun playlist and routine though, which I will be sharing this week, as usual.

Thanks to 2 hours of gardening that day, I made some really decent steps 🙂

{MONDAY} Cycling – again!

So I still teach on Mondays too – every other week since Jim is back and we alternate Mondays.

It was amazing how Monday class was SO different from Sunday class. I felt much better, engaged with my riders more and we had some GOOD time cycling!

{TUESDAY} Rest Day

Much needed. I feel like I was going non-stop for a loooong time, so it was good to just chill – have dinner with the family, Skype mom, watch TV…

{WEDNESDAY} Yoga

Back to stretching tonight before I go back to that killer TRX® class tomorrow 🙂

And that’s my news and workouts, guys!

So, talk to me:

Have you ever taken a TRX® class? What was the best workout you had in the past week?

    • It is good stuff, indeed 🙂
I have to say though – it was only after the very first time I did it that I was THAT sore. So, it does get better 🙂

  4. I haven’t tried TRX but have heard good things about it. Love my Fitbit too and it’s always fun to compete with others on steps per day. 🙂
