Quinoa the Queen and 5 Ways to Easily Incorporate it into Your Diet

Happy Tasty Tuesday morning to you, my friends!

What fun things did you do this weekend? I was on a cleaning spree – so I scrubbed and cleaned, and washed and dusted, and vacuumed and what not ๐Ÿ™‚

Love to have a clean house! Great feeling.

There was also some pool time on Sunday andย hubby’s companyย picnic on Saturday.

FUN!

But back to tasty things ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s linkup party time! Do you have something tasty you’re talking about on your blog? A new recipe? A restaurant review? Link it up below!

Me? I am talking Quinoa today ๐Ÿ™‚

Quinoa is a wonder-seed. Rich in protein (8 g, 16%), magnesium (118 mg, 30%) and fiber (5 g, 21%) it has become extremely popular among people with various dietary restrictions, preferences and tastes.

I personally discovered it about a year ago (thank you, Internet ๐Ÿ™‚ ), and I have been hooked ever since I tried it for the first time.

If you’re looking into trying quinoa, here are some tasty ways to incorporate it into your diet.

{ONE} Salads

I usually make a whole batch of it on Sunday and add it pretty much to all my salads.

Every salad (except the beet root salad) in this Sunday meal prep photo has white quinoa in it:

{TWO} Baking

I haven’t tried baking with it yet, but this Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Quinoa Snack Cakeย by Peanut Butter and Peppersย looks super-yummy!

{THREE} Breakfast Recipes

Some people eat quinoa cooked as oatmeal for breakfast.

Or, you can make this awesome Quinoa Pudding by Honest Fare and have that instead!

{FOUR} Add to Soups

Add your quinoa to soups instead of that pasta! So much better for you!

This Black Bean and Quinoa Soup by The Post Punk Kitchen looks simply ah-mazing!

{FIVE} Add to Smoothies

Yes, you read that right! I can’t wait to try and add quinoa to my smoothie!

And those are your 5 ways to incorporate quinoa into your diet.

Now it’s party time!

Questions of the day:

Have you ever tried quinoa? How did you like it? What is your favorite recipe with quinoa?

Take care, my friends!

  1. All of those sound absolutely fantastic although I have to say, I’m a bit apprehensive to try the last one. Hm. I’m adventurous enough in the kitchen to give it a go though. I looooove quinoa + chili so the soup option sounds delicious!

    • I know right ๐Ÿ™‚ I was surprised to find it myself ๐Ÿ™‚ Look forward to trying it! After all, quinoa has a very subtle taste, so it will mostly add nutrients.

  2. I have only had Quinoa one time and wasn’t really a fan. Although those peanut butter bars do look yummy!

  3. I have never had quinoa before in my life! Sadly I cannot have it but I’ve heard great things and I always recommend it to my Gluten-Free friends ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Oh good tips! I didn’t know you could use it in so many ways! Maybe I’ll start with the basic adding it to a salad version to make sure I like it before doing the whole baking thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Lena! I love LOVVEEEE quinoa! It is my FAVORITE! I first found it right after I was diagnosed with Celiac, and it has been a love affair ever since! Seriously, I make a HUGE batch of it for the week (like you) and use it as my grain for dinner through out the week! I love making peanut butter quinoa, and sometimes use it as a dessert! Never tried it for breakfast! Good Idea ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Awesome, Amber! I think I’m definitely going to try that breakfast pudding soon – I’ve been feeling like changing things up a little with my breakfasts lately.

  6. I love quinoa in salads and soups. I’ve never tried it for baking. My one try of breakfast quinoa wasn’t very good but that was the cafeteria at work so maybe I should give it a try at home.
