Hey guys!
Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a great weekend.
So I decided to make this Tasty Tuesday post about totally random Tasty Tuesday things. I’ll try and keep it food-related with one or twoย exceptions ๐ Here we go!
{THING ONE} Polar A300 Giveaway
…is over! And the winners is…(drum roll)
Congratulations, Krista! I’ll e-mail you with details shortly ๐
Thank you so much to every single one of you for participating and I hope you win the next one! Pretty sure there will be a next one ๐
And a HUGE thank you to Polar for providing the prize for this giveaway!
{THING TWO} Avocado Breakfast Patties
Not so long ago I saw this beautiful pin.
They looked so good that I pinned it for later ๐
Usually I make breakfast patties every week as part of my food prep so I had that in mind when I was pinning the recipe. After making a few adjustments (like swapping the pepper it’s calling for with the crashed red pepper flakes and leaving out the bread crumbs) my breakfast patties were ready.
OH. MY. GOD.
Go make these. Right now! Then eat them. They are especially good cold. Or warm. They are just especially good ๐
{THING THREE} Whole30 Stuff
So I didn’t finish my last Whole30 because of my trip to Russia, but I wanted to do it anyway as I knew going in that I wouldn’t finish. From my first Whole30 I knew what’s not making me feel good, so I just thought I’d do Whole-whatever-number-of-days and I did. My hubby finished all 30 though, but didn’t do the re-introduction partย (because I was gone and there was no one to supervise him) ๐
We decided we’re going to live a Whole30-style life from now on. We won’t be eating the stuff that’s banned on Whole30 unless there is a special occasion (birthday, wedding, etc.. etc..). Technically it’s not a Whole30 but rather “anti-Whole30” and it’s missing the part of completely excluding certain foods from your diet for 30 days. But since we did it before and figured out what foods are making us feel bad; since we know that when we’re on Whole30 we both feel great, sleep great, loose weight and look awesome, we thought we’d make it our life style.
We were talking about the program the other day and noticed that the milk we had in the fridge for the kids has loooong expired and the cereal has been sitting on the counter untouched for a while now. The miracle hadย happened – our kids automatically adopted the Whole30 as well ๐ Told ya we were gonna sneak it up on them ๐
Anyway, they seem to be happy with what we eat. No one is starving and every day we have wholesome meals on the table that everybody in our house enjoys.
So we’re doing it. There. I just made it public to all my numerous readers ๐ Leave a comment if you approve (or disapprove) – I’d love to hear from you!
Meanwhile, get the latest Whole30 Bookย if you’re interested in the program. I’m reading it now, and it’s even more awesome than the first one.
{THING FOUR} The Color Run 2015
So this weekend I ran a 5K. The happiest 5K on the planet, no less ๐
It did make me pretty happy even though my time was not as good as it was at the Glo Run a month ago.
Part of that I think was because this run was A LOT more crowded and I should have started with the first heat of runners only. I ended up having to stop where I could have been running just because there were walkers in my way. (that was NOT said in an obnoxious way at all, I’m more of a walker myself)
Reason 2 – being off Whole30 the past 2 weeks, eating way too much ice cream and having to run in a hotter and humidย weather. Ok, that’s another 3 reasons. ๐
Anyway, I had a blast and I’m sure I’ll do better next time. My buddy Gandalf ran it with me ๐
Couple things I discovered that might be helpful for you if you ever run a color run:
- If you wear contacts, don’t wear new ones to this race – you’ll end up having to throw them away after the run because of the colored powder residue.
- Wear a bandana around your neck to cover up your nose and mouth at the color stations. Otherwise it is very hard to breath. It will come in handy at the after party, too.
- If you’re brining your phone, put it in a plastic zip loc bag to keep it clean and dry (they will shoot water at you at the after party + crazy amount of the colored powder).
- If you want to be able to see where you’re going, wear sun glasses to protect your eyes from the powder.
- The powder does come off of the clothes after washing unless the clothes is white. It comes off but you can still see the stains. Wear something you won’t regret parting with after the race.
- My shoes, on the other hand look like they’re brand new after I washed them in the washer. Go figure ๐
But enough of not food related things!
Your turn! Talk tasty things to me ๐

The color run looks fun and I would love to to one someday. Avocado pancakes yum!

I’ve never done a color run mostly because I didn’t want to breathe in color dust and have it in my eyes. You sort of just solidified my not ever doing one! But I will still do other fun races ๐

I was supposed to do a color run this weekend but skipped it because I’m getting over bronchitis. I figured the last thing my poor lungs needed was all that colored powder being breathed in! But I do really enjoy them and think they’re a lot of fun in general ๐
