Hello, friends!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Here in Carlisle we had a wonderful weekend of heat and sweat 🙂 But still it was a good one.
On Saturday morning (before I had to head out to my Saturday Double at the YMCA), I decided to have a pre-workout meal. Usually I don’t do that – especially before my spinning class as it makes me feel uncomfortable during the workout. But I did some research and found out that it is highly recommended to have a meal before your workout. Live and learn! I went for fruit since I can’t really eat anything more substantial that early in the morning.
The workout was great! And I didn’t feel any worse because I ate before it.
When I got home after my spinning and yoga classes, I wasn’t as hungry as I usually am since I had my pre-workout snack, but I still made myself a yummy breakfast.
After lunch we faced the eternal question of what trouble to get into 🙂 Carmen had to go to her mom’s for a sleepover that afternoon, Simon hadn’t come over yet, so hubs and I chose our usual relaxing weekend activity – by the pool at Carlisle Swim Club.
After a few laps I was hungry again so I got myself a grilled cheese sandwich.
All in all, it was a beautiful day at the swim club – just enough clouds to be comfortable and still work on your tan 🙂
After we got back from the pool, we made some tortellini and basil/mint/parsley/pine nut/Parmesan pesto. Oh that was so delicious!
Next morning I woke up early – feeling rested and refreshed. Everybody was still asleep….so I made myself breakfast.
I ate my breakfast, caught up on my e-mails, got bored and everybody was still asleep…and what does a girl do when all her family is still asleep on a Sunday morning? That’s right – she goes to the gym 🙂 So I did. Half an hour on the elliptical that Sunday morning energized me for the entire day!
Post-workout smoothie was just what the doctor ordered for me!
When my husband was finally up that Sunday morning/afternoon we hit the Swim Club again, which was double fun that day because they had the Swim Team chicken BBQ so we decided to have dinner there.
The chicken was a little “too grilled”, but it was still delicious. And you get a cupcake!
Since we had dinner so early, of course I got hungry later when we got home. So I fixed myself a nice bowl of fruit (apple and peach) and almond butter.
With all that great food, cupcakes and late snacking I didn’t forget about my #julyplankstreak!
Usually I try to push myself to hold it 10 seconds longer than the day before, but on day 8 I just got a little confused with the time. Anything can happen to you when you’re planking 🙂
I hope you’re having a good start to this week, friends!
Stay fit!
